Learn a sensual double fan choreography to “Maintenant” by Rupa and the April Fishes and mesmerize an audience. Kaeshi will teach you different hand holds, dramatic accents, poses you can strike, travel steps, plus a myriad of bellydance movements that work well with traditional Chinese fan technique. Bring a pair of fans to the workshop. If you don’t have any, Bellyqueen fans will be available for purchase for $40 and includes a free drawstring silk bag. Saturday January 6th 2018 Shapeshifter Workshop
Are you a dance that is interested in learning how to be more versatile? Then sign up for the all levels “Shapeshifter” workshop.
Cross-train in different dance styles such as Contemporary, Popping, Waving, Tribal and Oriental belly dance to become a more versatile dancer. This class is best suited for people who have already been exposed to belly dance. Prepare to be challenged both physically, emotionally and with your imagination. Variations will be offered to accommodate dancers of multiple levels of experience.
Kaeshi Chai is a theatrical world-fusion belly dancer who co-founded the professional dance company and school, Bellyqueen, and PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment), a global community of artists focused on empowerment and social change through dance and music. She organizes the annual PURE Conference focused on themes such as love, being a peaceful warrior and the 5 elements.
Kaeshi has performed and taught internationally, and is an alumni member of the Bellydance Superstars, and Jillina’s Bellydance Evolution. In addition to her years on stages from Las Vegas and beyond, from 2007-2017 she curated the weekly Djam Under Jebon event showcasing local and visiting dancers and musicians.
Kaeshi has toured her own theatrical dance shows, Journey Along the Silk Road and PURE Reflections:Beauty Reimagined around the US, Canada, Australia, Italy, Taiwan and Japan. Her mission is to develop belly dance as a stage art and explore its capability to delight, transform and empower.
